The New Mexico History Museum / 47 Stars

The United States Flag Act of 1818 set forth a rule that no new stars could be added to Old Glory until the Fourth of July immediately following a state’s admission to the union. Thanks to that once-a-year-and-only-once-a-year mandate, New Mexicans hoping to share their pride at becoming the 47th state were essentially forced into committing their first illegal acts as U.S. citizens. New Mexicans wanted a flag of their own showcasing 47 stars, not 46 and certainly not Arizona's 48.

Full Moon Fire Ceremony

For millennia and throughout all cultures, fire has been a powerful vehicle for connecting with the divine. Spiritual fire ceremonies are traditionally held at the full moon, when it is said, the veils between the worlds are thinnest. At the fire ceremony, we burn away all that does not serve us and invite our deepest desires to manifest. The evening begins inside with a review of the ceremony and a guided shamanic journey to clarify your intention for the fire. Then outside for the fire, with chanting and rattling. $20 for newcomers, $10 for returnees. Half price for FT students.
