I just wanted to echo that Pecos has a wonderful Yurt manufacturer. My brother and his wife and planning on setting up a yurt in southern Minnesota supporting a Buddhist retreat site and live in it fulltime for about two years--she as the priest and he as the handman. They looked all over the country and ended up buying from the manufacturer in Pecos. I love your paper but the reporter should have done a little better research.

Everyday, as I listen to a favorite classical station, one advertisement has been running for weeks. The ad implies how the federal government’s stimulus bill is failing and that health care reform is so confusing no one can understand it. The speaker continues, “For debt solutions, call us!” This self-aggrandized solicitation is a political ploy. What I see in this ad is protectionism. This financial service is trying to save itself from a federal consumer protection agency by building more distrust in its listeners. If I were to ever confront this business, I’d start with, “Have you read your health insurance policy lately”? Or, “Can you tell from what you’ve read if your covered or not?”

I enjoyed Betsy Models The Alternative House: Playing with Dirt, the Art of Adobe. Remember, if you want a hands-on experience with adobe, San Miguel Chapel (the oldest church) is looking for community members to volunteer with the mudding project. Contact Cornerstones Community Partnerships at 982-9521 or jbowley@cstones.org for further information. Come learn about adobe, preservation, and have some good clean fun this summer while preserving a Santa Fe treasure.

I just wanted to thank you for having posted the Pax Christi notice in your web site. It was a great, well-attended event.

Dear Mr. Cole: Who is John Galt? -- Answer from Mr. Cole: Creator/Inventor from Ayn Rand‘s Atlas Shrugged. He symbolizes the individual capitalist. He‘s the opposite value from a bureaucratic society. Once upon a time John may have had something to say and in fact still does. Unfortunately the big capitalists along with a few greedy bureaucrats have run off with the bus. So now it‘s up to all the little John‘s to take their home back. Thanks for writing.

Responding to e-mail I sent out on March, 22, 2010. Hi John. You write, “It behooves our leaders to truly lead.” I would say that it behooves each one of us to feel like leaders and act as we would like them to act. It is also important to understand that if we wait for our leaders to act on our hopes we then disempower ourselves.
